of Spam! Issue numb 18: "ANTI-HERO!"
The famous are not heroes. The famous
are not your friends. Forget all the famous.
Forget every last one of them. They don't
know you. They don't want to know you. They
want to be known far far more than they want
to know.
But
who can blame them? Fame creates love. Fame
creates wealth. And everyone would want to
be famous for those two reasons alone if they
could only believe (or fully fool themselves
into believing) that they were universally
lovable and not hatable or laughable.
Fame
is a popularity contest. It's a beauty contest.
It's a talent contest. It's a moral contest.
It's a physical contest. It's a contest for
the truth. It's a contest for power. It's
a contest for the power of truth... power
of ability... power of beauty. It's a contest
for their moral and physical power.
You're
always competing for love, attention, power
and money. So it's easy for love to turn to
hate when life is a contest.
Life
is a contest! You say it's not! But
wherever the truth is contested, you have
a contest!
"Just
because you think you're lovable doesn't mean
I do," The
Adman warns me.
