of Spam! Issue numb 21: "SEX!"
Ever wonder why legal pornography still
gets so much flack from mainstream society?
Because it is still perceived as a real threat.
And not just some moral threat, but a direct
threat to the majority's actual way of life.
And
what "way of life" is that? It's
that typical economic way of life involving
the principles of scarcity and exclusivity
of sex which Family Life is most commonly
built upon.
Sex,
especially good sex, is hard to find. Don't
think so? Well that's why people who have
been in a comfortable, satisfying relationship
hate having to get back into the single's
scene and date again. It's hit-and-miss. It's
hard work.
So
how is pornography seen as a threat to this
way of life? It's seen as the first step towards
undermining the perceived scarcity and exclusivity
of good sex through exposure to innumerable
people (amateurs and pros) seeming to have
better sex and more sex than you. And porn
is also seen as undermining the perceived
exclusivity of good sex through the experience
of virtual group sex by engaging in sex with
your partner during or after viewing porn
of other people.
"If
the institution of marriage is threatened
by porn, how strong can it be? And if it's
really that fragile, aren't we all better
off finding something more solid to build
our lives on?" asks The
Adwoman.
